About this product

Our saffron (zafran, kesar; sometimes spelled zaffron) is the Super Negin grade: long, all-red threads without yellow or orange ends, so very little goes to waste. A few threads turn warm milk, kehwa, kheer or biryani golden and give a soft, floral, honey-like aroma. The listing states it is from Herat, Afghanistan.

Saffron price in Pakistan: 1 gram for Rs 1,200

Why saffron prices differ

Grade, origin and freshness drive the price.

  • Super Negin: whole red threads only.
  • Sargol: red tips only.
  • Pushal: includes some yellow style, which adds weight but no colour.

Per gram, 10 grams and tola

We sell 1 gram jars. 1 tola is about 11.66 g, so to compare a "per tola" price, multiply our gram price by about 11.66.

Original zafran price: what you are paying for

Very cheap "saffron" is often safflower, dyed corn silk or threads mixed with yellow style. Real saffron is priced for hand-picked stigmas: each Crocus sativus flower gives only three threads. Before you buy anywhere, check the grade name (Super Negin, Sargol or Pushal), the weight in grams, and the colour of the threads.

Saffron in Pakistan: Herat, Irani or Kashmiri?

All three come from the same flower. They differ in region, how the threads are cut and graded, and price. For everyday kesar doodh, kheer and biryani, the grade (all-red threads) and freshness matter more than the country name. Ours is Herat Super Negin.

Quick home checks (zafran ki pehchan)

  • Colour: deep red threads with a slightly flared tip, not a red-and-yellow mix.
  • Water: in warm water the colour should come out slowly and turn golden-yellow. Water that turns bright red at once suggests dye.
  • Smell: floral and slightly honey-like, not sharp or chemical.

These are indicators, not proof. Full guide: how to check original zafran.

How to use saffron

  • Kesar doodh: soak 3–4 threads in a spoon of warm milk for 15–20 minutes, then stir into a cup of warm milk. Sweeten with a little Sidr honey if you like.
  • Kehwa: add 2–3 threads to green tea with cardamom.
  • Kheer, firni, biryani, pulao: soak a pinch and add the liquid near the end of cooking.

A little goes a long way; too much tastes bitter.

How long does 1 gram last?

At 3–4 threads per cup, roughly 40–50 cups, depending on thread size.

Storage

Keep it in its airtight glass jar in a cool, dry, dark place, and use a dry spoon or tweezers. Avoid the fridge door.

Who should be careful

Saffron is a spice used in small cooking amounts. It is a food, not a medicine. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or on regular medication, ask your doctor how much is suitable.

Frequently asked questions

What is the price of 1 gram saffron in Pakistan at Desi Nectar?

Rs 1,200 for 1 gram of Herat Super Negin threads in an airtight glass jar, with cash on delivery.

Is your zafran original?

It is sold as Super Negin grade saffron: whole, all-red threads. We have no lab report, so instead of making purity claims we explain simple home checks and their limits.

Why is original saffron expensive?

Every thread is a hand-picked flower stigma, three per flower. Cheaper products often contain safflower, dyed fibres or yellow style.

What is Super Negin saffron?

The trade grade for long, whole, all-red threads with no yellow part. It is the cut we sell.

How many grams are in 1 tola?

About 11.66 grams. Our 1g jar is enough for roughly 40–50 cups of kesar doodh.

How many threads go in a cup of milk?

Usually 3–4, soaked in a spoon of warm milk for 15–20 minutes first.

Herat, Irani or Kashmiri saffron: which is better for cooking?

All come from the same flower. For cooking, grade and freshness matter more than the origin name.

What is the delivery charge for one jar?
